I had my chance at that exclusive Altus D-Shop Yukiko (green fan ver.) figure by Alter, and I blew it. It's gone. And it was reasonably priced. Never again will I hesitate. NEVER AGAIN. :(

I kind of fell asleep watching Fate/Zero ep 1. I'll.. uh.... try again. (It was 12:30AM after all.)

It's (of course) different compared to what rumichan went through as Milla in the beginning. I had a boss encounter with Agria (where I have to lose) that Rumi didn't have, and then had the boss encounter he had, right after. I uh... totally forgot to magic lens that first boss fight. I hope that encounter didn't count towards the monster/boss book completion. Are they gonna make us play through it twice to be able to complete the monster book? Y'know, scan Milla-only encounters and Jude-only encounters on different play throughs (and carrying over your book data)? Because that'd be really gay. I have a lot of other games to play. Also, I've never back stepped so much in a Tales game before. This new counter assault mechanic or whatever makes back stepping fun. (Was this in Graces F? I still haven't played that, so this is new to me if it was in it.) Basically, your character does a Wesker-like teleport (lol) behind an enemy if you time the back step right as you're being attacked. And then boom boom boom, free hits. Even when you and a spellcaster's fireball are far away from the caster, you can back step the fireball and appear right behind the spell caster.

Anyway, I like Jude. I'm sure I'll like Alvin more, but Jude hasn't displayed any qualities I've hated with past main male Tales leads so far.

D-ARTS

Series: Megaman X
Character: Megaman X (Metallic Ver.)
MSRP: NONE (SDCC 2011 Exclusive)
Average Auction Price: 70.00 ~ 80.00 USD

Overview & PicsCollapse )

Massive thanks to clessaileron for hooking me up this year for this, at San Diego Comic Con 2011. At the con, it was only 5 more dollars than the mass produced, normal edition that costs 40.00 USD at select comic/hobby shops. It's too bad X didn't make it into UMvC3, eh? But I'm more than fine with the characters that got in. MOST of them actually make sense on the business side of things, as they had or will have an upcoming game/comic to promote. (X, unfortunately, does not.)

Here, we have the last of the three 15th Anniversary Books for Tales. (Or at least I hope so, but I'm pretty sure there's only three.) If you missed the first two books I covered (Tales of CHRONICLE & Visual of Tales), you can find them HERE. (Just scroll down.)

Cover Price: ¥2800
Kinokuniya's Price: $51.80

Let's take a tour of the book!Collapse )

If you're looking more on in-game information and tidbits, this is the book to get. If you're more into the information on the design aspect of the series, Tales of Chronicle and Visual of Tales are the books to get. There are no interviews with character designers, seiyuu, etc. in this book. While there's art here that can be seen in the other two books, it is worth noting that this book contains art for supporting characters (as well as minor notes on them.) It covers folks from Torinix Morrison to Peony Malchut 9th to Milhaust Selkirk. Unfortunately, there are also folks who I guess are too minor and don't have full body artwork, so no minor line notes are tagged on their distinctive features. (IE: people like Kurtz and Victoria of Tales of Graces.)

Once again, Kinokuniya taking my money. This appears to be the 2nd (of 3) "Tales of" 15th Anniversary books I've seen. If you missed the first book I covered (Tales of CHRONICLE), you can find that HERE. (Just scroll down.)

Cover Price: ¥2095
Kinokuniya's Price: $38.70

Let's take a tour of the book!Collapse )

The rest of the book is stuff like Character Ranking polls over the years (the ones you voted on in Tales Channel) as well as the usual interviews with the character designers, and messages/signatures from (select) seiyuu. The Tales of Chronicle book is more comprehensive in that regard, but this is the book to have for character art organized individually. It's still a good book even if there's no Xillia, but hey.. What can you do? I'm sure there will be a nice 20th anniversary book where they're in it.

I haven't bought or done anything Tales related in a LONG time, but I couldn't resist buying this book. Randomly saw it at Kinokuniya today, and picked it up. It made me remember why I love this series so much.

Yukana's signature is as cute as ever. Also, I know nothing about Touchi's character from Graces (or Graces in general), but that sure is a lot of hearts... Especially for a guy who I've seen nothing but manly roles of, in games/anime.

Wait, so they can get Peter Cullen (the original voice for Optimus in G1) to voice Optimus Prime in the upcoming movie in July, but they couldn't get Frank Welker (the original voice for Megatron/Galvatron in G1) to voice Megatron? Yet, Frank Welker will do Megatron on the videogame based off this movie.

I hear they got Hugo Weaving to do Megatron in the movie, because "he fit the part more." That's whack. If I were Welker, I'd be pissed. He's the original goddamn Megatron for crying out loud.
